Voter Information for Cumberland County, NC

Here, you'll find all the essential details you need to make sure your vote counts in the upcoming elections. Whether you're registering to vote for the first time, checking your voter registration status, or looking for your polling place, we've got you covered!


Voter Registration Deadlines

  • General Election Registration Deadline: October 11 (25 days before the election.)
  • Same-Day Registration: Available during the early voting period at early voting sites. Please bring proof of residency (such as a driver’s license, utility bill, or other government document).

Election Dates

  • General Election Date: Tuesday, November 5
  • Early Voting Period: Begins October 17 and ends on November 2

Polling Locations

Polling locations are open from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM on Election Day. Your specific polling location is assigned based on your residential address.

  • Bring a valid photo ID. (If you don't have one, you can get a free ID for voting from the DMV or county board of elections.)
  • Check your registration status before you go.
  • If you’re in line by 7:30 PM, you’re allowed to vote.

Absentee and Early Voting

If you prefer to vote by mail or vote early, here’s what you need to know:

Absentee Voting:

  • Request Deadline: Request your absentee ballot at least 7 days before Election Day.
  • Return Deadline: Absentee ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by the county board of elections by 5:00 PM on the third day after Election Day.

  • Early voting locations will be available throughout Cumberland County.
